Colour changing sunglasses at the touch of a button

Scientists at the University of Washington have developed a new sunglasses lens material that can change their color. Using an electro chromic polymer, the material has the capability to increase or decrease the levels of darkness and color in the presence of an electric current. The glasses can change from red to green or blue to orange at the touch of a button. In addition the shade of the glasses can be changed from a light 55% blocking tint to a very dark 95%. The researchers say the material is at least 2 years away from reaching the high street but hope the benefits will be practical as well as fashionable.
