RNIB undergoes PR revamp
The Royal National Institute of the Blind (RNIB) has announced it will change its logo in a major image update. The current logo of a person holding a white stick gave the 'wrong impression of the charity's remit' said Ciara Smyth, head of communications at RNIB.
"The logo as it stands promotes the idea that we are a charity that only helps blind people rather than also partially sighted people. The reality is a lot of blind people get around without the use of a cane, so it seems to represent an organisation that is not in touch with the people it is trying to help."
The RNIB is to change its name to the Royal National Institute of Blind People and its slogan to "Supporting blind and partially sighted people."
