Practice manager Carol completes the Edinburgh Marathon (by accident!)

Posted on 29th May 2017

For patients of the practice, you will know Carol Field, our dispensing practice manager. On Sunday Carol did something amazing. Carol completed the Edinburgh Marathon. The reason this is a particularly spectacular achievement is that she ran it by accident…!

Carol signed up for the half marathon but two weeks ago she realised she was down for a full marathon due to an admin error. Given the option to change, Carol thought, no, she’d go for the full. Why not…? Well we couldn’t be more proud of her and it was all in aid of Prostate Cancer UK, a charity close to her heart.

We are a pretty energetic team at Cameron Optometry, regularly taking part in Tough Mudder, Total Warrior and other team pursuits and Carol is no different. She ran the Race for Life 10km a couple of weeks ago and has previously competed in the the Paras 10 mile endurance race, as well as several Fan Dance events, a gruelling 24km SAS-course which takes place over the Brecon Beacon’s highest mountain. And, assuming her blisters have healed in time, she’ll be taking part in the Seven Hills of Edinburgh event in mid-June.

Well done Carol. Maybe next year, we’ll make it a team effort…
