We're delighted that Frankenstein has received widespread recognition this awards season, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
Contact lens assistant Heather Muir, supported by locum contact lens specialist Alison MacDougall, worked as part of the hair and makeup department during the UK shoot of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein last year.
The film’s hair and makeup team has already received major recognition, including wins at the Astra Awards and Critics Choice Awards, alongside further nominations at the BAFTAs and the Oscars. We're so proud to have supported such a talented and creative team and wish them every success as they head into the upcoming awards ceremonies.
Heather aid: “It was an incredible experience to work alongside such a skilled and dedicated hair and makeup team. Their recognition this awards season is so well deserved, and I am thrilled to see their work celebrated at the highest level.
“Frankenstein is the most visually beautiful film I have ever seen, and its success during the awards season so far is really a testament to the sensational makeup and hair specialists in the world of film.
“Huge congratulations to all who contributed to the success of the movie. It has been an honour to be a part of the journey.”
Securing eight nominations at the BAFTAS and nine at the Oscars, Netflix’s Frankenstein has become a universal sensation for it’s dark and visually impressive reimagining of Mary Shelley’s classic story that is gripping audiences globally.
The BAFTAS awards ceremony will be hosted on the 22 February and winners for the Oscars will be announced at their ceremony on the 15 March.
