Meet the Team: Sophie Andrew

Sophie is in her final year of her FBDO degree with ABDO College and already brings four years of experience at Cameron Optometry to her work. She holds a Level 5 SCQF Certificate in Optical Practice Support and has completed specialist training with Hoya on their innovative MiyoSmart lenses.

What makes Sophie stand out is the way she blends creativity with precision. She loves exploring the perfect balance between the artistry of frame design and the science of lens technology. As Sophie says: “Specs are a unique balance of meeting aesthetic desires and visual requirements. Lenses have a lot more complexity to them than meets the eye (pun intended!) and I enjoy discussing individual requirements for spectacles with patients and helping them select the best lens option for them and their lifestyle. There are more lens designs than you might imagine, and there’s an option (or two!) for everyone.”

Favourite frames
Her go-to is Apple by Theo which is a playful acetate and titanium design in tortoiseshell and black, in an eye shaped design. She also loves her bold orange Kirk & Kirk frame that always sparks joy and never fails to make her feel fabulous. For Sophie, specs should let personalities shine and make everyone smile.‍

Top tip
Always remove your eye make-up at the end of the day, your tear glands will thank you! And remember: when they’re not on your face, they’re in their case!‍
