Eve Swinton is an experienced and highly skilled optometrist with specialist expertise in medical retina and glaucoma. She has worked in eye care for more than a decade and brings a combination of advanced clinical training, hospital experience, and research leadership to the Cameron Optometry team. Eve joined the practice in early 2025 and has already become a valued clinician known for her calm, thorough, and patient-centred approach.
Eve graduated with a BSc Honours in Optometry from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2018 and completed her pre-registration year in Edinburgh. During the pandemic, she gained significant experience in emergency eye care, managing a wide range of acute eye conditions and supporting patients with urgent concerns. She went on to complete the Professional Certificate in Medical Retina through London City University, providing her with enhanced skills in the assessment of diabetic retinopathy, macular conditions, and retinal disease.
Eve is also a fully qualified Independent Prescribing optometrist, allowing her to diagnose and treat eye conditions and provide timely medical management within the practice. She works part-time as an Advanced Clinical Research Optometrist in the glaucoma department at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, where she assesses and manages patients under the supervision of consultant ophthalmologists. Eve is the clinical lead on several active glaucoma research trials and also supports studies in genetic modification, vitreoretinal disease, and neuro ophthalmology. This combination of clinical and research experience ensures that she brings the latest evidence based practices directly to her patients at Cameron Optometry.
With a growing interest in glaucoma, Eve will begin the Professional Certificate in Glaucoma in Spring 2026 and intends to progress toward the full diploma in glaucoma. Her ongoing hospital work, alongside her advanced clinical training, positions her as one of the next generation of glaucoma specialists in Scotland.
Patients value Eve for her warm communication style and her ability to explain complex information clearly and reassuringly. She is passionate about building long term relationships with her patients and providing the kind of thorough, person-centred care that Cameron Optometry is known for.
Outside work, Eve is a keen long distance runner and completed two half marathons in 2025. She is currently training for future races and enjoys spending time outdoors running or cycling. She is also a talented ceramicist and artist, with interests in painting and drawing that she pursues in her spare time.
