Rebecca Daly is an experienced optometrist with a strong background in glaucoma care, complex contact lenses, and myopia management. She joined Cameron Optometry in 2019 and brings a thoughtful, academically rigorous approach to patient care, alongside a long standing commitment to education and professional development within optometry.

Originally from Mullingar in Ireland, Rebecca graduated with a BSc Honours degree in Optometry from the Technological University of Dublin before relocating to Scotland. She has worked primarily within independent optometry, gaining broad clinical experience across routine and specialist eye care. She later completed a Masters in Primary Care Ophthalmology at the University of Edinburgh, further strengthening her expertise in ocular disease and clinical decision making.

Rebecca is a fully qualified Independent Prescribing optometrist, enabling her to manage eye disease and prescribe treatment where appropriate. She has also completed NESGAT (NES Glaucoma Award Training), allowing her to care for patients with treated ocular hypertension and glaucoma who have been discharged from hospital under NHS community care pathways. Her specialist interests include glaucoma, complex contact lens fitting, and myopia management.

During the Covid lockdown period, Rebecca worked in the Emergency Eye Treatment Centre, supporting urgent eye care services at a time of significant pressure on the NHS. She has contributed to clinical research, including a published peer reviewed paper exploring patient understanding of glaucoma, and has been involved in practice based research relating to advanced retinal imaging with the Optos scanner. Rebecca has also delivered talks at national conferences and remains actively engaged in clinical education.

Alongside her role at Cameron Optometry, Rebecca currently chairs her local Area Optical Committee and works with NHS Education for Scotland as a postgraduate optometry tutor. In this position, she supports optometrists across Scotland, with a particular focus on the development and delivery of the community glaucoma service. She regularly organises continuing professional development events and holds a Certificate in Medical Education. Her additional training includes microcredentials in psychological first aid, leadership in healthcare, and coding for research data analysis, as well as first aid at work certification.

Rebecca lives in East Lothian and enjoys spending time outdoors, particularly walking along the coast. She is a keen runner and cyclist and has completed long distance walking routes including various parts of the Camino de Santiago, and is an active volunteer at Parkrun. Patients and colleagues alike value her warm, approachable manner and her strong interest in wellbeing, both for patients and for the professionals she supports.
